After a nice few days with my family on the coast in Mississippi, we have arrived in Alaska! It’s my first time here ever, and I kind of love it. This whole small city we’re in, Anchorage, totally has this kind of stuck in the 70s-style feel, but it’s so charming. I also think it’s rad that happy hour here lasts until about midnight. It’s twilight until about that time. —and speaking of twilight, it looks like they could have filmed the movie here. Last night what with all of the steamy fog and kind of dreary weather with the mountains and hills and ocean..
We decided to have a big band and crew dinner, so we got some killer snow crab legs (duh) and steamer clams at Humpy’s around the block from our hotel. So yum. This restaurant-bar is so bomb. Afterwards we kept it an early-ish night and wandered home in the rain.
This morning was easy enough. I was shocked I wasn’t more tired after the long flights last night. After Insanity (!!) we finally made it outside to a gorgeous day. The rain had cleared up and despite some scattered clouds it was sunny and clear. The weather is so refreshing and crisp, a nice break from the 90 degree heat we’ve been experiencing everywhere we’ve been lately. Garrett and I grabbed a bite at this awesome cafe and rented bikes for a long ride along the edge of the ocean. The view was stunning! Tonight he plays the Moose’s Tooth pub (& pizzeria yeahhhh) and I know it’s going to be a blast!!! Can’t wait to see this alaskan crowd that comes through. Then tomorrow morning we get up at 7am to drive 2 hours to go fly fishing! I’m super excited it’s going to be so much fun. Last time we went fly fishing it was outside of Salt Lake City I think, and I caught the most… so we will see….!
